Robin Hood – who was he and why are people around the world so fascinated with his story after all these years?

The popular version of the Robin Hood legend is a heady mix of adventure, heroism and romance - the tale of a charismatic man who, with wit, tenacity and a little help from his band of faithful companions, seeks to fight evil, injustice and oppression. As a school kid in Nottinghamshire, I spent many happy hours re-enacting scenes from Robin Hood, and as an adult I have spent many happy hours reminiscing about those youthful exploits – casting my mind back to a time when the world was an open book and I could be whoever I wanted to be. Perhaps therein lies the secret of Robin’s impressive longevity.
